On May 23rd , team Marty’s members drove up to NY state for the second race of the H2H xc series. Tymor park holds a reputation for being a fast, flowy and fun course with some steep relentless climbs and a wicked fast downhill section.
The weather and trail conditions were absolutely perfect. A few showers came down the night before, making the course slightly tacky and keeping the dust clouds to a minimum. The temperatures were in the mid 70’s and all the racing categories enjoyed the sunlight.
All in all, team Marty members put in a great effort and had strong races.
Paul Meier put up another 2nd place finish with a blazing time of 1:10:53 in cat2 19 to 29.
I think Paul has that #1 spot in his sights.
Due to the insanely tough climbs, Single Speeding may not have been the best bike of choice for this park, but that’s the punishment one chooses when racing cat2 single speed Open. I had one of my better races in memory and my best individual xc finish (5th in a time of 1:24:32). I am hoping to keep this up the entire year.
Bill Dove had another strong race and managed another top 10 finish. (10th in a time of 1:27:49, cat2 35-39)
Mike Grant put in another strong race without any issues and cramps. (15th in a time of 1:37:43, cat2 40-44).
The Cat1 riders had to endure the climbs for 3 laps.
We have become accustomed to top 5 finishes from Utah Joe, when questioned about his lackluster finishing position Utah stated: “Well since it is my first season in cat 1, this year’s racing will be a learning experience…..today I learned that I’m too slow” . 18th in cat1 30-39 in a time of 1:52:08.
Claude Leberge put in his usual dominant effort, just 4 minutes short of the podium with an 8th place finish in cat1 40-49 with a time of 1:44:26.
Joe Monga got himself another top 5 finish in the cat1 50+, 5th place with a time of 2:00:36

Next up is our very own Lewis Morris Challenge on June 27th. Hope to see all Team Martys member at the race!
