The ET tire uses a distinctly directional tread pattern and its width yields more traction than you might expect from a tire with such little rolling resistance. We named this tire for our friend Nate, who is also quite large and aggressive. This tire has a shred-your-face-off, run-over-anything, kung fu grip knobby tread pattern. The casing is round and supple. Tall, widely-spaced knobs are siped for added grip and compliance. The knobs’ wide spacing means they dig deep and still shed the crap you’re riding through. The tread wraps a little around the sides of the tire, providing good knob contour even on very wide rims, which in turn allows good off-camber traction. This is Bud, a front-specific 4.8" tire designed for 559mm (“26 inch”) rims. While our 100mm Clown Shoe Rims will offer the most ground contact and the best shape profile, Bud (and his brother, Lou) will also work on rims down to 65mm wide. Bud’s aggressive mud- and snow-shedding tread is characterized by tall (7mm), siped knobs, arranged in a pattern ideal for the unique requirements of steering and braking. Lou is the 26 x 4.8" rear-specific mate to Bud. Lou’s tread is much like Bud’s with tall knobs designed to grind, crawl, and claw its way over rooty, rocky, wet, muddy, loose, or otherwise inhospitable terrain. Lou’s tread pattern is a bit different, however, made for stability while both braking and accelerating.
